Overview and Purpose of the role:
- Operational technical support function (electrical and mechanical) to ensure factory equipment availability is maintained safely, to a maximum, to meet production demand.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Conducting planned maintenance (repairs, replacements) on mechanical and electrical plant equipment*
- Identifying plant equipment deficiencies (inspection / defect identification).
- Providing timely response (effective trouble shooting) to critical plant equipment breakdowns (reactive maintenance).
- Participate in structured problem-solving exercises (Root Cause Analysis) with operational team i.e. Safety, Production, Process and Engineering.
- Able to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Complete daily Work Orders / Job Cards (Planned and Reactive).
- Adhering to all company safety and security policies and procedures.
- Maintaining meaningful contribution and participation in meetings and audits (engineering, safety, production, etc.).
- Coach, mentor and train operators, learners and apprentices as may be required.
- Good Housekeeping – Factory and Workshop.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognisant of safety risks.
Mechanical and electrical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints.
Proficient in troubleshooting techniques (5 WHY / Cause and Effect) to solve machine issues.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with similar employees and stakeholders such as Managers, Supervisors, Artisans, Operators, amongst others.
Strong Communication skills.
Clear understanding and comprehension of the “sense of urgency”.
